DAY 2:MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

Early morning breakfast followed by a full day of game drives within the reserve.  Journeying into Maasai Mara Game Reserve our jaws will drop at the number of different mammals in the vast plains. There is no shortage of magical scenes in Maasai Mara which is famous for its black mane lions and the annual wildebeest migration which normally happens between the months of July and October. Maasai Mara provides unprecedented game-viewing opportunities. This is probably one of Kenya’s most visited reserves, with an astonishing mass of animals including the big five and other arrays of plain wildlife. The Mara River cuts through the Mara and Serengeti ecosystems giving life to both reserves before finally pouring out into Lake Victoria. The most notable is the wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle instinct led to the migration from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Mara in Kenya, which happens every year, between the months of July and October. Every year, over two million wildebeest, zebra, and other herbivores move from the southern Serengeti to the flourishing green grasses of the Maasai Mara. The Migration is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the great migration is a historic compelling safari. The herds travel 800 kilometers clockwise in a circle through the Serengeti and Maasai Mara ecosystems in search of greener, mineral-rich pastures and water. The animals spend most of the cycle in the Serengeti in Tanzania but also spend several months feeding in the immense plains of the Maasai Mara. This journey is coupled with various impediments which makes it even more magnificent. You will have a picnic lunch and continue with the game drives arriving at the lodge in the evening for a well-deserved rest and a hot relaxing shower.
