Mwangi Gitau – Birding & Naturalist Guide
Mwangi Gitau was born and raised in Nakuru, near the shores of Lake Elementeita, one of Kenya’s iconic Rift Valley lakes. His love for nature began in primary school, inspired by the sight of thousands of flamingos turning the lake a striking fuchsia pink, and by the tourists who traveled from around the world to see them. This early spark grew into a lifelong passion, and Mwangi is now a highly trained professional guide with interests ranging from birds and plants to mammals of all sizes.
Known for his keen “hawk-eyes” and immense knowledge of East Africa’s natural and cultural environments, Mwangi has built a reputation for attention to detail, reliability, and engaging company on tour. He is praised by birders and wildlife enthusiasts alike for his professionalism and adaptability—always tailoring his guiding style to meet the needs of each group.
Mwangi has led safaris across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Ethiopia, and his birding journeys have taken him to see more than 1,000 species. A formidable all-around naturalist, he continues to expand his knowledge and share his passion with guests, making every field trip both rewarding and memorable.
