John Gitiri – Bird & Wildlife Photography Guide
John Gitiri was born and raised on the Kinangop Plateau, a landscape renowned for its endemic Sharpe’s Longclaw. Surrounded by this rich birdlife, John’s passion for birds began early, and he quickly realized that birding and travel would become central to his life. After high school, he pursued a course in Tour Guiding, which transformed his curiosity into a full-fledged career. His skills were further refined during an internship at the National Museums of Kenya (Ornithology Department), where he deepened his knowledge of bird identification and ecology.
Today, John is a respected birding and wildlife photography guide, having led safaris across Kenya and beyond for several specialist tour companies. He is celebrated for his sharp eye and exceptional ear for bird calls, as well as his calm, respectful demeanor and touch of humor that create a positive, engaging atmosphere in the field.
