Wilson Keith Tiren

Wilson Keith Tiren was born on the shores of Lake Baringo, a freshwater gem in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, renowned for its exceptional bird diversity. He belongs to the Ilchamus (Njemps) community, a small tribe closely related to the Maasai and Samburu, traditionally pastoralists who also fish in the lake’s rich waters.

Growing up surrounded by nature, Wilson developed a passion for wildlife at an early age, often accompanying renowned birders such as Terry Stevenson on expeditions around Lake Baringo. After completing high school, he pursued studies in Tour Guiding, specializing in Kenya’s birdlife.

His sharp eyesight and deep understanding of bird behavior soon made him one of the most sought-after local bird guides in the region. Wilson has an extraordinary ability to locate elusive species such as owls, coursers, and nightjars, and his groups benefit from his remarkable skill at identifying birds by their calls and songs.

Over the years, Wilson has guided numerous birding and wildlife tours across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, working with leading international birding companies such as Vent Birding and Heartherlea Birding, as well as organizing tailor-made safaris for independent birders.

A passionate naturalist and patient teacher, Wilson combines his deep local knowledge with enthusiasm and professionalism.
